Reducing executive search costs, while adding value to the process
HomeServe is one of the UK’s leading emergency home assistance providers with almost 2 million customers. Operating globally in UK, North America, France and Spain via long-term affinity partnerships with utilities, heating manufacturers and specialist service partners, with a global turnover of over £1bn.
HomeServe have partnered with Charlie McIntosh Ltd since 2018, working with their in-house recruitment team on several senior hiring and talent insight projects. On this occasion, we were asked to support in the confidential recruitment of their UK Finance Director, ensuring discretion through the process while also enabling the in-house team to remain in control and negating the need to use an Executive Search firm.
Through detailed research, utilising multiple methods, we built a talent map of potential candidates and approached a long-list of 30 individuals about the opportunity.
Our team held in-depth conversations with 10 senior finance leaders, understanding their experience and motivations to move, before delivering a short-list of candidates for HomeServe to interview.
HomeServe stakeholders had full visibility of this process across all stages, talent map to short-list, through our online candidate management tool. This meant they have full control of the process and a detailed insight into the talent landscape, informing their hiring decisions – before they’d even spoken to a candidate.
Outputs of this project were;
- Talent map of senior finance professionals
- Short-list of candidates delivered within 3 weeks – with complete confidentiality in the market
- Management of candidates through the interview process
- Candidate offered and accepted within 5 weeks
- One fixed cost which resulted in over £30,000 of savings compared to using a traditional Executive Search firm
This is one example of many executive search assignments we have concluded for our clients, delivering significant added value to the process while helping them reduce costs.
